I am Brionna Garcia- a traditional oil painter and interdisciplinary artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I am interested in dream worlds and what they have to teach us about the waking life. My paintings, often in oil, are inspired by surrealism, science fiction novels, and the high mountain desert of my childhood in New Mexico. Exploring the intersections of social, environmental, and biodiverse ecosystems, I give voices to human and non-human-kin. Each expression is a colorfully embodied activation of hope for planet Earth.

With this heightened awareness of our collective fragility, I use art as a prayer for a regenerative future. Other works range from organic installations, bio sculpture and performance. Currently, I am working on a series of cyanotypes on fabric and oil paintings that develop what I think of as Water Language. Water-this elemental substance necessary for all life on Earth- has a unique sensorial language that I believe unifies water beings and connects us to our common ancestor. In my work, pollinators, queerness, and strength of the feminine are common representations of the diverse preciousness of life.
