Brainstorming is often one of the most fun parts about the art process. To see what were once roughly thought- out ideas come to fruition is extremely exciting for me. For my first project- Son of a Glitch- I am thinking about how fun it will be to lose some control over my art making practice. We will be using random ai generators, and ai to create new works of digital art. I am usually a meticulous draftsperson and painter, so this random generator process feels like a solid way for me to jump outside my own comfort zone in terms of making. I am also interested in the aspect of collaborating with Artificial Intelligence and rethinking my previous notions of authorship in my new digital pieces. Images I am thinking about using to generate other images are definitely plants, animals, water, rocks- things that usually show up in my art. Im hoping I can generate a ton of images to have a new stockpile of inspiration for my practice while I am in grad school. I am curious about glitching the photos and creating new spaces within an image with the subtle corruption that glitch allows for. And lastly, double-exposure. blended, or layered images is something that is a path i want to go down with this project. Because of the randomness of the generative AI, I have no idea how this project is going to end up.
