For Project 2, in Blender I want to make a wearable that is fun and has a sense of humor. So far what I’ve been conceptualizing is some sort of wearable accessory that speaks to a combination of my interests. I have too many interests to name, but some major themes that come to mind are science, dreams, worlds, elements, regeneration and altered states. One of my first ideas is a pimp hat made out of moss, fungus or a Protozoa of sorts. A pimp hat made out of purple seaweed could be cool. Maybe I could make a bird nest hat or iguana ear muffs. Fashion and sculpture combined is something that has always inspired me. It will be interesting to see how this project pans out as it will be my first time rendering a form with Blender. I will take inspiration from fashion designer Iris Van Herpen who also uses 3D modeling technology to fabricate her biologically inspired gowns. I have sculpted with clay, adobe, willow, agave, wire, and metal before, so I am hoping this becomes supportive to me in my process for creating this digitally sculpted wearable. Perhaps making sketches of the materials to recreate could be helpful. Also sketching the materials from varying angles I think would be beneficial for me. Additionally, I think coming from a painting background could be supportive is me using color, lighting, and achieving a nice value scale effectively. I’m really excited about where this project will take my art.
